Writer’s Log: March KDWC, Week 1 | UNCITIZENS

Hello, fellow campaigners of the writing world! A. F. Kopp here with yet another writing log. I actually enjoy writing these and it makes it easier cuz I can break it up between days. Sadly, this time I forgot and ended up writing them all today and a day late for that matter.

Also, for the universe of Uncitizen’s Ship, I made a logo.

Well, on to the blog post!

March 1st, 2023

Today is day one of the KDWC and my goal is 30k! I wrote approximately 600 words today. I’m doing something different by writing by hand which is a lot harder, but I feel it’s worth it. I think my words are coming out a lot better and have more style to them. One of the downsides of writing fast is that I don’t think too much before I write. Sometimes it’s good to slow down. I also wrote at a coffee shop for a bit before I hung out with a friend. But I did finish chapter 1!

I wrote 434 words today. I started chapter 2, reaching almost 2 pages worth of words. I used some of the old words by reading them off of my Apple Books app (I found a way to turn my manuscript into a .epub so I can read it on my phone).

This is an AI portrait of Jekkh. I guess I forgot to mention it was in her POV.

I only wrote 290 words today, but I lost the fancy pen I was using and the new one went out. So today, I wrote in a bright pink pen, though it isn’t what I had wanted to do. Oh, well.

My birthday! Yay! I spent most of the day with my family and didn’t write until it was later in the evening. Well, I wrote a little bit in pencil, but in total, I wrote 1,738. I finished chapter 2 and started a bit of chapter 3 which is from Camrun’s perspective. I’ve only written from his perspective once, and it really doesn’t count. There was an old story idea that I wrote a couple hundred words to but it was originally from a female’s perspective, so I just replaced the name and pronouns, adding a bit more internal dialogue and description. But I completely reworked the scene today to fit the book and Camrun, and I freaking love him.

This is an AI portrait of Camrun for reference. It creepily looks like one of my close friends which he thinks is hilarious.

I didn’t even finish my page. 😦 Today was really busy though and it is past midnight posting this.

I wrote 975 words! I am very much behind on my writing if I want to reach 30k by the end of the month. Hopefully, I will get more motivated. The new pens I ordered came in so I can use those and they write so much better! I wrote new scenes with Camrun, stepping into the life on Persyth, finishing chapter 3.

This is Persyth. A gas planet with floating cities. It’s the birthplace of Camrun and his brother Cahlun. And, in case anyone is wondering, NO, I do not have favorites between the brothers. I love them both so much… but I do have a soft spot for Cahl. Also, Cam. Ugh, I love these characters too much.

I wrote only 140 words today. It’s only half a page, but I at least started it. This chapter is back to Jekkh’s POV. I think most of this book will be Jekkh’s since she’s been the MC in my head for so long, but I do like the subplot with Camrun in it which gives more content for the next book (which I might write ANOTHER POV, too, haha).
