Hello, fellow campaigners of the writing world! My name is A. F. Kopp and in this post, I will be delving into the challenging journey I’ve had regarding writing and my faith.
A few weeks ago, I wrote a blog post regarding my struggles with writing for the Lord and I included a testimony in which God showed me that I shouldn’t give up on writing (when I was ready to give in and forget about it). If interested, you can read the blog post here (opens a new tab).
But something that I’ve been struggling with lately is that even though I know I am called to writing (the post linked above tells why) I have a hard time balancing it with other callings. God showed me recently my calling regarding music and missions (which is what I do with my mother and sister in our band, terce.) through dreams and other confirmations. So, once that was decided, for some reason, I decided to put God in a box and once again shelve writing. But not in the same way…
Previously, when I first wanted to give writing up, I wanted to give it up for good. All or nothing. But this time, it is different. I gave up the idea of traditional publishing because of a few things: being “tied down” because of a contract, knowing how enveloped I can get in my writing if I do it too much, the fear of deadlines, and no time for ministry. So, I settled for maybe self-publishing a few copies for myself to sell at gigs when traveling.
And that is, once again, putting God in a box.
So, this is a bit of a writing update (not really), but I will eventually be looking into querying for a literary agent. If I get one, cool, and if I don’t, oh well. I am confident enough in God that if this doesn’t work out, He will make a way otherwise. Because I’m trying my best to glorify Him. Through writing. Through the stories and characters. Through hardship and trusting in Him. Maybe I should imitate my characters and do that more.
That’s all for this week. Thanks for reading! Has there ever been a moment where God pulled through for you when you were about to give up?
Salutations, fellow adventurers!
Respectfully,
A. F. Kopp
P. S. On a random note, I am going to try posting on Saturdays next week, so if you don’t see a post on Thursday, that is why. If I don’t like that schedule, I will revert back to the Thursday schedule.
